April 28 - 6th Tie Dye 32 Miler
Results are now posted. RESULTS. In the meantime, I have uploaded a few pictures on the ORRRC Facebook page.
SHIRTS ARE NOW SOLD OUT.
*Apr 26th Update: Volunteers? Check. Cones and Ribbons? Check. Coolers? Check. Box O' Shirts? Check. Bibs? Check. Tomorrow is food and cleaning the coolers day. Meeting Andy and Phil late to mark the course. I will update current trail conditions tomorrow evening if I get home at all. (I find RDing much more stressful than running) Nightmares of lost runners, missing shirts, and other terrible things. Happy Trails!
*Apr 22nd Update: Great meeting some fellow runners today! Hopefully the weather will be exactly the same (add lots of sun for the volunteers to stay reasonably comfortable) next Saturday. Trails are in great shape. Maybe some pictures can be shared with the group? Have a great week and stay healthy.
*Apr 20th Update: Andy and I did 6+hours of trail cutback today... it was absolutely gorgeous out there. Weather looks to be great. Below are the remaining shirts as of 10:32p. Thanks for the kind emails. On another note: I will have gels and cups at the aid station; please do not liter. If you are in sight of the aid station feel free to drop and the volunteers will get it cleaned up but once you get into the course hold your trash.
*Apr 17th Update: Entrant list is growing! Karen Gildow and Terry Murray round out our fabulous volunteers list. Joe Smindak has entered... great to see Joe Runner on the local trails again. He paced me once when I suffered greatly at this race.
- Glasses are here and gels should be arriving shortly.
- I have the intro section figured out... a simple out and back on a flat and paved park road (plenty of grass on the shoulders) which is touch under 3 miles. You will be returning the main aid station area to start the 4 loops.
- Aid station goodies:Â PBJ, bananas, Pizza around 11:30, sodas, gatorade, water, pretzels, fruit snacks, Gold fish (the crackers!), trail mix.
- Parking: We will fill the main lot (I will have at least two spots coned for the course). There are plenty of side parking areas. Simple parking map. The red line is the course and the parking areas are in yellow. The course runs by all the parking areas.
- There are 4 restrooms on the course.
*Apr 6th Update: Finisher glasses have been ordered. Will be ordering the gels this weekend. Below are the remaining shirts. As the volunteers, 7 kindly souls have volunteered so far. They are: Jim Latham, Gina Colston, Tammy Donaldson, Phil Noble, Pat Latham, Natalie O'Connor, and Kyle Brumbaugh. Your the best.
*March 31th Update: Just quick remaining shirt update.  I have set aside 2 shirts of each size for volunteers. First come, first serve! Email me that you can volunteer plus get a shirt and the runners' gratitude. Added a picture of the shirt to the right - plus the ribbons that we use to mark trail around here. Credit: Sheri McPherson.
*March 20th Update: I have the wrong date and time on the MAIL IN entry forms. Sorry about that. I just used another races entry from as a template and forgot to change the info.
*March 19th Update: Insurance and park permissions are complete! Now the entries are starting to roll in.
If you can volunteer please email me. Need a few more to assist at the Main Aid Station (Family members work great!) and a course marshal to work the first loop only.
*Feb 5th Update: Shirts are picked up up! These are hand done locally and are the classic multi-color. First 100 entrants get them... sizes are limited! I GPSed the new loop today... it's posted in the Interactive Map. To resolve possible weather problems (flooding in gorge): a backup date of May 5th will implemented. COURSE MAP: Interactive map. (The main loop) WHEN: Saturday April 28, 2012. The race starts at 7a. (Flooding may force the race to May 5th) PARKING: John Bryan State Park, Yellow Springs, Ohio REGISTRATION: Register on-line through April 26. Mail in Form. Race day registration ($25) begins at 6:15a at John Bryan State Park. FEES: $25 ($25 Race Day) includes a custom tie-dye shirt for the first 100 entries. Please register if you plan on running. AWARDS: All finishers will receive finisher awards. RACE DIRECTORS: VOLUNTEERS: Meet some new friends and have a great time while making a valuable contribution to the local running community by volunteering at this event. If you would like to help, please contact the race director(s) (above), and we'll be sure to find a job for you!
A great spring trail race! Gorges! Single Track! Hills! Very little mud even if it's been raining!
