33rd Annual ORRRC Turkey Trot 2011

The Ohio River Road Runners Club and the City of Miamisburg Present:

The 34th Annual Turkey Trot

WHEN: Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22, 2012.  The race starts at 8:00am.

LOCATION: All events start at the Baum Opera House (15 South First Street) in Downtown Miamisburg.  I-75 to Exit 44, Rt. 725 west to Second St. south to Linden Ave west to First St. north.

2011 EXPO: Wednesday, November 23 from 11:00AM - 7:00PM at the Baum Opera House.  The 2011 Expo features local vendors, door prizes, snacks, and DJ entertainment!  We will post more updates and details about the fun stuff going on at the expo as race day gets closer.

PACKET PICK-UP: Please avoid the race day rush and pick up your packet at the Expo on Wednesday, November 23 from 11:00AM - 7:00PM.  Race day pickup is available on November 24 from 6:30AM - 7:30AM at the Baum Opera House.  You may pick up packets for friends and relatives - however, PLEASE double-check packet labels very carefully to ensure that you have been given the correct packets.  There will be packets with similar names in the box.  You must verify ages, genders, and emergency contact info before walking away!

EVENTS: Choose to participate in ONE of these events:

==>5 Mile Timed Competitive Run/Walk     OR    ==>1 Mile Non-timed Fun Run/Walk

COURSES: The 2011 5-mile course is the same as 2010: Runners start on First at Linden, head south on First, swing through Rice Field past the aid station, turn around at Shephard Rd., return to the start/finish line on First just north of Linden.  Attention Walkers: Those who will start by walking the 5-mile course should please stage on Linden (between 1st St. and 2nd St.) and in the Cinder Path lot prior to the start. We will start all walkers immediately after the last runner has crossed the starting line.  The 2011 1-mile course is the same as 2010: Line up on Linden, between First and Main.  You will be facing Main St. instead of First St.  Head south on Main St., to west on Mays Ave. to the turnaround.  Return on Mays to north on Main to east on Lock St. to north on First Street.  Finish with the 5-milers on First just north of Linden.  Please keep to your left along First St. to make room for the returning 5-milers.

SHIRTS: 2011 Turkey Trot shirtThe first 8000 entries will receive a new-for-2011 long-sleeved t-shirt constructed of a special moisture-wicking technical fabric. The 2011 shirt features an upgraded cranberry-red fabric and a 2-color front print.  (Note: XXS is approximately equivalent to youth medium, and XS is approximately equivalent to youth large.)

2011 REGISTRATION: Register online at http://getmeregistered.com/ORRRCTurkeyTrot. All who register online will receive access to an exclusive e-coupon for private 15-20% discounts at Runners Plus.  (There is no extra cost to register online.  We absorb the third-party processing fees.)  Or download the entry form belowPlease, no mailed entries after November 12. Please note: We will limit the field to the first 7000 5-milers and the first 1000 1-milers. We sold out in 2009 and 2010!  Please register early to ensure your starting spot!  There will be NO race day registration.

*Assuming that we have not yet sold out.  We will cancel or close on-site registration as soon as we hit the limits.  Please pre-register to guarantee your spot!

REFUNDS: All fees are final.  There are no refunds! If you cannot participate in the event, then send someone down to The Expo on Wednesday to pick up your shirt.  Unclaimed packets will be disassembled at 8:30AM on race day and used to fill shirt size exchange requests after the race.

AWARDS:

  • TOP 5 Male and Female: Overall and Masters division (age 40+) - Overall and Masters winners (male and female) will also each receive a $100 gift card from Runners Plus.
  • TOP 5 in Male and Female age groups: 8 and under, 9-11, 12-14 and each 5-year age division from 15-19 to 80 and over.
  • TOP 5 in Clydesdale divisions for men: “A” 200-224 lbs.; “B” 225 lbs. and over.
  • TOP 5 in the Grande Dames division for women: 140 lbs. and over.
  • TOP 5 in the Wheelchair division.

Awards will be presented downstairs at the Baum Opera House after the last finisher has finished and results have been calculated.  (Approximately 9:45am)  Awards not claimed on race day may be picked up at the new Runner’s Plus store, 8970 Kingsridge Dr. (behind the Dayton Mall) during normal business hours.

Note: Overall awards will be based on gun time.  Age group awards will be based on chip time.

COSTUME AWARDS: Costume judging and awards for the five best costumes will be done next to The Baum Opera House at 7:30AM on race day.  No need to sign up in advance, just show up in costume prior to 7:30.  Our judges will make an announcement, when they are ready to start.

POST RACE PARTY: Please join us immediately following the race in the Baum Opera House parking lot for the fun-filled Earth Fare Post-Race Party including refreshments, DJ music and entertainment, and great socializing with fellow members of our excellent running community.   Sponsored by Earth Fare, the healthy supermarket.  (Note new 2011 location in the Baum opera House parking lot.  Look for the big tent!)

SCORING:
All 5-Mile participants will be issued a timing chip. You are responsible for wearing your chip on your shoe. NO CHIP = NO RESULTS = NO AWARD.  To be eligible for awards, you must cross all 3 timing mats: start, turnaround, and finish. YOU MUST RETURN YOUR CHIP AFTER THE RACE. If you don’t run/walk or don’t finish, you must return the chip in person at the race or by mail in the envelope provided. 1-Mile participants will not be issued a chip.

RULES: For the safety of you and those around you, baby joggers and dogs are prohibited, and headphones are strongly discouraged.  Obey all instructions from race and public safety officials.  Please be sure to wear your timing chip on your shoe during the race and to return it at the finish.
