RESULTS ARE POSTED HERE! Thanks for coming out.  Questions?  email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it    It was great seeing new faces and you folks are the best.  really.

Nov 4th Update: The loop is now marked and it is in great shape.  There are two small sections (20-30 yards) where it'll get slick as the race goes on as the leaf cover is removed.  Andy H and I will be setting up this evening.  Good luck!  Oh... I took a few pics here.

Nov 1st Update: Few questions have come up in emails. I will try to knock these out here.  Feel free to email me ANY questions.

  • Runners are still signing up which means... PIZZA!
  • There is a time limit. Hopefully, you will be starting your last lap before 4p.  I will trust that you will pull yourself from the course if you cannot finish before "dark in the woods" (~6p, sunset 6:30p).  I will release your volunteers once they become zombies and it'll be you and I.
  • Yes, there are 7 total laps.  Yes, you will get dizzy.  Yes, you may break your toe.  Yes, you'll be happy you did it.
  • Drop Bags:  I will have a table for the bags.  Once the race starts I will have them brought down the aid station.  We will have two large canopies. I will try to get them under one of these if it is raining.
  • At this point, there should be NO creek crossings or mud.  I will update this later in the week.
  • Will be traveling clockwise on the loop.  All ORANGE ribbon markings will be on the LEFT when you are on the loop.  The .11 mile out and back will be marked with another color on both sides.  (I think PINK if I have enough)  The road sections will be marked with orange cones.  I will also have signage on the course.
  • There is cell coverage in the area.
  • Aid station will have Hammer Gels and Heed sports drink.  Plus water, water bottles, Coke, 7up, Hawaiian Punch.  Foods:  Pretzels, Apples, Bananas, PB&J, Trail Mix, Crackers.  I will be getting Pizza around 12:30.  I will have basic aid kit items.  However, no pills will be provided.  (Salt, Ibuprofen)
  • You must wear your race number.  Please make sure that the aid station volunteer sees your number come through the aid station.  Even though the timing system will be used, we will still be counting laps.
  • No littering!
  • I will be out on course throughout the race maintaining a "secondary aid station" (Approx. halfway in the loop) that will be unmanned.  I will TRY to keep Paper Towels, Water Bottles and Gels there.
  • There MAY be mountain bikers out there.  Please keep your eyes peeled.
  • I will try to have a person that will drive you back to your car (.8 miles away). I will be back fairly often so this shouldn't be an issue.
  • There is very little parking near the loop.  (3 cars at the trail head and about 5-6 about .2 miles down where the road drops into the lake.  If you have family, please park at the start shelter area.  I cannot run out of parking for your volunteers or block traffic (one lane road).

Oct 27th Update: Hoodies have arrived!  (at least they are different than the standard race swag.)  There will be a course preview run on this Saturday (Oct 29th) at 8:30.  Also, I plan on using our chip system so... everyone will have splits to look at.  Happy Trails!

Oct 24th Update: Hammer supplies and awards have arrived.  Still waiting on the hoodies.  Going to get large white boards for marking laps. Also... port-0-lets are a problem at this location. You will have restrooms at the start but during the race it's a problem  (TP in your drop bag?).   Check back over the weekend about updates.

Oct 19th Update: 1 Medium and 1 Small left!

Oct 14th Update: Plaques have been ordered.  Hammer Aid station items ordered.  Getting volunteers in line.  (If you have a family member that can help at the aid station...)

Oct 11th Update: Hoodies have been ordered.  Here is what's left (as of 10/11 at 1:00p): 2 Larges, 3 Mediums, 2 Small.  Get your entries in soon!

Sept 13th Update: There will be hoodies!  (Lightweight ones.)  Signup by Oct 10th to guarantee your swag!

After running 50s for Your Momma this spring, I learned just how great a 50k  / 50 Miler can be on a great loop ~4 mile loop.  I have brought the same challenge here for our late fall 50k!

The start will be at the shelter area with a .9 mile road section (DOWNHILL) to the loop.  The loop is 4.11 miles of challenging rollers (about 210-240' feet of climb per loop) then you get to do a brief .11 section to Aid Station.  Check in and head back out 6 more times.

Great lake views, excellent single track.  Trails is flowing for runners (no sharp turns).  Is a great fall run in the woods.
Some video of the course:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PoYbF8FrDA.  Taken at the Crazy Turkey race in September.

The finish is at the aid station.

I am pretty excited about this course.

Distance Breakdown  (wheeled on July 29th, 2011)

This year, we are offering Hammer Products!  Aid station will be stocked with Hammer Products.
