Post race: Looks like the new course was a little a harder than the loop course (20% more hills). Andy and I are thinking this course will be the new course for 2011 due to the last minutes problems that arose and most importantly: we think it's the better course for the race. Thank you for all the nice comments and we will try to continue to put on a nice "Long Run". Congrats to all the finishers! Have a great 2010 and happy trails.

SEE MAP FOR COURSE CHANGES
3 loops of 16.4 miles of some of the best single-track around Caesar Creek lake south of SR 73. The largest hill is about 80', however the elevation changes are substantial due to almost constant rollers. Approx 990'of "rolling" per lap.
About the Course: Most of the course is on the counter-clockwise on the Yellow Loop (Marked with Yellow Paint on trees).  There are 2 off-shoots off this trail. See more below.
We will have 2 "manned" aid stations at the start/finish and at the Day Lodge. Any drop bags will be taken to the Day Lodge (Middletown Rd on map). These two aid stations will have Gu's, Water, Gatorade, Bottled water, Peanut-butter and Jelly sandwiches, Peanut-butter crackers, pretzel rods and an assortment of Pepsi products. The other "unmanned" stations (we will visit them every 30 minutes or so) will have Water, Gatorade, Pretzels and something sweet... Fruit Snacks seem to be a favorite. Â If you need to drop just stop at one of the aid stations and we will get you back to the start. We have custom awards for the top 3 male/female.
- Start at the Fifty Springs picnic area and head down the old MTB / Skiing trails (passing the start area/aid station) and end up at SR 73Â (Aid #1).
About: Old mountain bike loop that was abandoned until Andy and I reopened for this race. Old woods with couple of tree jumps then a mostly downward slant though reclaimed meadows until a gentle climb up to Aid#1 - Take SR 73 across the lake, hop the guardrail (watch your knees!) and head down the trail to Furnas Shores.
About: Approx a .7 miles road running until a quick left over the guard rail and joining the main Yellow Trail. This is pure single track but pancake flat. - From Furnas Shores continue to the day lodge (Aid #2)
About: You'll take a right onto a boat ramp and a few tenths of a mile later rejoin the yellow trail. Rooty, slighty off-camber and fairly flat until the last mile or so before the aid station. Mostly mature forest and shaded however, the longest section between aid. - From the Day Lodge travel to the Visitor Center.
About: The yellow trail continues through mature forest but the trail starts testing your calves with the largest rollers and technical single track. Great views of the lake and the prettiest section of the course. - (REVISED July 5) Take Clarksville Road across the Dam to the Flat Fork picnic area. (Aid #3)
About: Another brief road run over the dam to the spillway parking area and through a parking lot onto a gravel section and through the spillway and back onto single track. We will deviate slightly of the yellow trail after the swinging bridge to add two additional hills and the needed mileage. This section also offers the only creek crossing. (You shouldn't get wet...)
- Pick up the trail and head toward Pioneer Village and the next aid station (Aid #4)
About: After picking up the yellow trail again at Aid #4, you'll run though an old pioneer village, run down a abandon road, and climb the final hill to the Start/Finish. Combo of reclaimed meadows and forest. - Repeat two more times and you are done.
Miles between aid stations: 3.14, 4.70, 3.22, 2.96, 2.38
Unique awards for top 3 overall Male / Female.
Final Lap must be started before 3:15p
